Spellbound Dance Company was born in 1994 as a synthesis of the dance experiences developed since then by
Mauro Astolfi, and as platform for new stylish experimentations, succeeding in imposing itself in a few years in the Italian panorama as a dynamic and striking structure both for the personal and original choreography and for the excellent skills of the dancers.
The company has had great achievements made up of important merits (such as Ismael Livo’s commission for the “Don Juan” for the Biennale of Venice 2008 and the Picasso Museum in Malaga for a new and original creation, always in 2008),
and an always growing presence both in the national circuits and in the international panorama, exporting its productions successfully to France, Serbia, Spain, Austria, Croatia, Germany, and also to Asia.

So, the Spellbound Dance Company celebrates its first 15 years of operation, with a name and know how already consolidated in Italy, thanks to the production of cultural quality products, and the virtuous support of the educational world, in order to outline a proper artistic current and also a working method, which has brought people from the world of choreography and contemporary dance closer together. So this quality and professional parameters have increased the growth of a synergic collaboration with Theatres, Festivals and educational Centres. Thus, confirming the positive result between the capillary work, both regarding the theatrical production, and the education of dancers, with a rich circuit of professional workshops and refresher courses, which have created in these years a microcosm of energy and attention around us. Making this “factory” strong concerning, both the audience and those fond of the entire Spellbound project and of the current of creative and cultural stimulus, which derives from it.

Today this artistic identity finds its place in the FORMER LANIFICIO
(Translator’s Note: the wool factory), which will become a place of
collaborations and ideas, a crossroad of experiences, projects and
initiatives, starting from the area of Rome.
In the new D.A.F. location, the Spellbound Dance Company aims to:
- start
high specialization educational courses, through which new generations
of dancers are brought up, in which experiences and repertories are
transferred
- make the Company’s activity usable for its own
audience also through sharing extra performing moments, such as
rehearsals and exhibitions,
- enhancing a structure, able to host
showcases and residences, collaborations with Companies, also
international Companies, already in partnership with the Spellbound
staff, which analyze the cultural product from a productive and
promotional point of view towards a dimension, which is now inevitably
European.
