Because of the schedule and the limited number of scholarships, we ask the students, who really would like to attend D.A.F. academy, to come to the audition only if there’s the real possibility to move to Rome.

D.A.F. Dance Arts Faculty, unique centre in Italy devoted to the starting and professional updating in the dance world, made with the aim to insert itself at an European level, boasts an innovative and transversal didactical program enriched by the presence of some of the most important dance personalities, who not only are hosted at D.A.F. as teachers, but can also offer working possibilities to the students of the professional courses.

D.A.F, after only one year from its starting, is considered a centralizing point of choreographic culture in the Italian territory, it’s the only educational centre able to create a valid combination between the stylish research and the technique preparation, thanks to the different and important professionals, who teach in our structure.

For all the dancers, who want to undertake the professional career in the artistic sector of the contemporary dance, D.A.F. organizes professional courses, aimed at the closer examination and refinement of one’s cultural knowledge in view of a future professional career.

D.A.F. unique prerogative is the presence of choreographers, coming from some of the most important companies and theatres of the international panorama, who hold choreographic workshops and are also members of the jury for the final exam.
In this way, the didactical offer differs from the standard educational programs seen so far in the national territory, emphasizing the interdisciplinarity among the arts, which is more and more requested in the European professional sector.

The access to the courses is allowed only to a limited number of students, who will be chosen through audition, after paying through scholarship € 1.000 or € 2.000 on the basis of the selected course. The payment can be divided into three-month instalments. We remind that the professional courses created by D.A.F. range from €3.800 to € 5.000

Some unavoidable motivational characteristics are requested for each student, such as: the natural facility for the study and the closer examination for the different techniques and styles of dance, a remarkable artistic sensitivity and a global approach to learning and study of all the subjects foreseen by the programs. The heterogeneity of the didactical offer and the presence of important international guests guarantee a functional study from the technical, cultural, educational and professional point of view.
D.A.F. artistic direction divides the targets of the project in two different branches: the EDUCATIONAL and the PROFESSIONAL.

EDUCATIONAL COURSE:
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
D.A.F. Educational section is addressed to the dancers between the ages of 14 to 20 years old. During the auditions, the artistic direction will select the dancers, who will demonstrate a great talent, capability, and a great aptitude for dance, considering their possible transformation and evolution for their concrete integration in future working contests.

PROGRAM:
The educational course has a duration of 9 months, for 90 total monthly hours, which will be divided during the week, according to classes made up of ballet, modern, contemporary and hatha yoga. The students attend 3 classes a day in the afternoon. All the classes are numerus clausus

EXAMS:
At the end of the year, the students have to take a final exam, in which they will be assessed by an external commission made up of the greatest exponents of the artistic reference sector. The exam has the aim to value the actual learning and improvement of each single student of the course. At the end of the 9 educational months, the students, who will have demonstrated a great aptitude for the subjects and a strong interest for the professional career, will have the possibility to continue the study for other 8 months. Then, for the ones who want to attend the other three years of the so-called Professional project, there will be an entrance examination, after the exam, dedicated to the students of the Educational project.

PROFESSIONAL COURSE
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
The Professional section is for dancers, who have already a technique education and also a working experience. The course made up of 2 years plus one of specialization, is addressed to dancers between 18 to 26 years and classes foresee a limited number of participants. During these 3 years of the Professional course, the dancers’ preparation will be integrated through advanced ballet classes and choreographic workshops with important national and international choreographers, who will be hosted periodically in our structure.

PROGRAM:
The basic program of the Professional course is made up of daily classes such as ballet and contemporary choreographic workshops and improvisation, held by the teachers of the centres and also by external choreographers and collaborators, who are hosted in D.A.F structure.
For a profitable integration of the study course of each student, alternative didactical hours are foreseen during the week, in which the students will further the technique and the study acquired according to methods and subjects, which are complementary to dance, for a better awareness and knowledge of the body and of its potential. Hatha yoga, body awareness, musical analysis, rhythm study and anatomy study are all subjects, which are a part of this disciplinary field.
Some curricular hours are dedicated to the knowledge of complementary techniques, such as muscular and physiological recovery, breathing techniques and nutrition. From the second year the study plan increases progressively. The students will come in contact with international choreographers and companies, in order to develop with them more and more advanced didactical courses, with the aim to educate independent and creative artists, with a deep knowledge regarding the different performative arts.
Specifically for the Professional course, D.A.F. structures “PCW”, that is to say, Personal Creative Work, a workshop with the aim to stimulate in the students the creative readiness concerning the choreographic composition. Starting from a work pre-planned by the teacher-choreographer, the students will intervene individually in order to finish it according their own personal initiative.

EXAMS:
At the end of the 9 months, the students of the Professional course will participate in an exam of the duration of two days, in which they will prepare works as a synthesis of the studies and the competences acquired until that moment.
In order to have the diploma, the students will have to work on a project, a creative work, synthesis of the studies learned during these three years, where the students can experiment personally and realistically a company’s logic and its working dynamics, becoming part of it inside the same project. They will create the experience of an original and creative process, with the help of guest teachers and important choreographers. They will become an integral part of a professional group, which will debut, at the end of the course, before a board of examiners, made up of directors of some of the most important companies of contemporary dance in the world, with the aim to offer contracts to the most deserving students.
